Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted on a rotational basis by 18 National Law Universities (NLUs) in India. Exam dates for CLAT 2017 are such that the law entrance exam would be conducted on May 14, 2017. The online application process for CLAT 2017 has commenced on January 1, 2017 to 31 March 2017.
The CLAT exam paper for UG course admissions consists of different sections wherein a candidate’s aptitude is tested in subjects such as English, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics, Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.
On the basis of a candidate’s score in CLAT exam, he/she can secure admission to fill 632 LLM seats and 2352 LLB seats.
Instruction to fill CLAT online application form 2017 from www.clat.ac.in.
1.Go to the official website.The very first step of CLAT Application Form involves registering online where you have to click ‘New User Register Here’ button.
2.In the second step of CLAT application process, you need to fill in various details for CLAT 2017 Online Registration including Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, E-Mail Id, Nationality and Mobile Number. Besides these details, you will also need to choose a course from the drop-down menu available and enter a captcha code as mentioned. Afterwards, click on ‘Submit’ button to proceed to the next step.
3.After receiving the Login Id and Password, you have to click on ‘Registered User Login’ button to proceed to the other steps of CLAT Online Application Form 2017 from www.clat.ac.in.
4.As you have logged in by entering CLAT 2017 Login Id and Password, you can fill the personal details including Date of Birth, Gender, Region and Address. After filling in the details, click on ‘Save & Continue’ button to proceed to next step for Online CLAT 2017 Application Form.
5.In the next page of CLAT 2017 Application Form, you need to provide academic qualifications and click on ‘Save & Continue’ button to proceed to the next page.
6.In this step, you need to provide choices to the 18 NLUs as per your own preference. The same preferential choices will be considered during CLAT Counselling.
7.Now, you will have to upload scanned copies of photograph, signature and Birth Certificate. Once you have uploaded the necessary documents, you’ll have to choose your exam centre/city preferences and then click on ‘Save & Continue’ button to proceed to the next step of remittance of fees.
8.Offline Method – You need to check ‘Offline’ option box if remitting CLAT application fee in offline mode. You will need to download the Challan and visit the nearest ICICI Bank Branch and deposit Rs. 4000 in cash. However, if you are applying against reserved categories need to remit Rs. 3500 as fees. You are advised to keep the Candidate Copy of Challan for future.
Note:-Online Method – In case you are remitting application fee in online mode, you need to click on ‘Online’ box and then submit Rs. 4000 (Rs. 3500 for SC/ST categories) as the fees using any of the options– Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card.
9.Click on ‘Preview Application’ button to preview the filled application form of CLAT 2017 and then check ‘I Agree’ box below the Declaration before clicking on ‘Submit’ button.
10.After the payment has been received by the bank, you’ll receive a confirmation at your registered mail id. Afterwards, you need to take a print out of the acknowledgement slip from the mail id.

CLAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria for UG Law Courses (LLB)
Candidates would be eligible to apply for CLAT 2017 if they have completed their 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of:
- Forty Five percent (45%) marks in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/Specially abled persons categories
- Forty percent (40%) marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/STcategory.
Also, candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April 2017 are also eligible to apply.
CLAT Eligibility Criteria for LLM Course 2017
Candidates would be eligible to apply for LLM course admissions if they possess CLAT 2017 LLB or equivalent degree and have secured:
- Minimum of 55% marks in case of General/OBC/Specially abled persons categories
- Minimum of 50% marks in case of SC/ST category.
Aspirants appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May 2017 are also eligible to apply for CLAT 2017.
Earlier, BCI had introduced age limit criteria for CLAT exam. However, now Supreme Court has directed BCI to remove the age limit criteria.
